LGBTQ Health

At Jefferson Healthcare, we believe that every patient deserves to be treated with equal dignity and respect, and have access to high quality medical care. We provide equitable care to all patients regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, or religion.

Jefferson Healthcare has been designated as a Leader in Healthcare Equality since 2014 by the Human Rights Campaign.  We have met the Core Four criteria for LGBT patient centered care and continue to train and improve our services to our LGBTQ community.

As a patient at Jefferson Healthcare, you have the right to medical services without discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. You also have the right to designate your partner or child as a visitor, regardless of legal recognition.

Transgender Patient Care Navigator Support

Our goal is to ensure transgender patients experience exceptional patient care with sensitive, competent and supportive healthcare providers and staff.   All individuals, including those of non-conforming gender identities, are welcome to contact our Transgender Navigator Jackie Levin, RN.  We use the word "transgender" or "trans" to refer to anyone identifying along or outside of the transgender spectrum.

Preventative Care

Preventative care is critical to maintaining your health and may include immunizations, vaccines, screenings, and regular check ups.  The Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccines are recommended for most gay and bisexual men, while the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is recommended for women and most gay and bisexual men through age 26.  Speak to your provider about receiving these vaccinations.
