Before Coming to the Hospital for Your Test
You must register before having your lab test performed. When you arrive at the hospital, sign in at the front desk. Your name will be called when it is your turn to register. After you are registered, one of the laboratory assistants will summon you for your test.
Follow your physician’s instruction about the collection of your specimen (blood/urine). Some tests require you to fast for eight or more hours. If you are taking medication, your physician will tell you whether to take your medication as usual or to temporarily stop taking your medication on the day of the specimen collection.
