Our professional and friendly registrars provide support to you in acquiring outpatient services such as emergency, laboratory, and radiology services (including CT scans, MRIs, mammograms, nuclear medicine, and bone density evaluations); short-stay surgery and surgery; respiratory therapy; medicine administrations; preoperative care; EKGs; observation; and inpatient admissions.
Should you have special needs, such as hearing or vision disabilities, please let your registration specialist or nurse know. We provide assistive devices such as hearing amplification, closed-caption devices for TVs, TDD telecommunications, and telephone or clock attachments. Interpretive services, representing many foreign languages and sign language, also are available.
Jefferson Healthcare has central registration for all inpatient and outpatient services. When you come to the hospital for services, please go to the registration area located on the first floor of the hospital, in the lobby area on the water side.
Your admission process will be made easier if you bring your picture ID, health insurance identification card, and Medicare and/or Medicaid card. Please contact your insurance carrier to obtain authorization for your services and to verify whether a second opinion is necessary. It is each patient’s personal responsibility to obtain insurance authorization prior to services. Prior authorization numbers should be presented to the Registration department prior to or at the time of admission. In some cases, health policies require the patient to pay a certain amount before benefits will apply.
During the admission process, the admitting clerk will provide each adult individual with written information regarding his or her rights under state and federal law to accept or refuse medical or surgical treatment. The clerk also will inquire about the existence of an advanced directive.
Advanced directives, such as a living will or health care power of attorney, are documents written in advance of serious illness or injury that state the patient’s choices for health care or name someone to make those choices if the patient becomes unable to make decisions. If you have advanced directives, please give us a copy so we can keep them with your records.
