Jefferson Healthcare visiting hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please talk to the nurse if you would like to stay overnight with a family member to give comfort and extra care. The nurse will arrange for bedding and a bed.
Washing your hands is one of the best defenses against disease. While you are visiting the hospital, we encourage you to use the hand sanitizers conveniently located throughout the building and to wash your hands when entering or leaving a patient room.
Patients who are sick are not able to fight off infections as easily as healthy people. Please do not visit if you are feeling unwell. If an isolation sign is posted on a doorway, you must report directly to the nurse’s station, where you will be provided with instructions on how to enter the room. While you are visiting we ask that you do not: Use the patient washrooms Sit on patient beds Use the patient phone Share the patient’s food or use their utensils, glasses, or cups.
Scented products can cause allergic reactions and respiratory distress for patients, visitors and staff. Please so not use any scented products, such as perfume, cologne, aftershave, lotions, or hair sprays while visiting the hospital.
The hospital cafeteria serves three meals a day and pre-made sandwiches, salads and desserts are available in the refrigerated case throughout the day. Breakfast is available from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The menu is posted each day and includes a salad bar, made-to-order sandwiches, hot entrees, desserts and beverages. Food and meal prices are posted in the cafeteria and posted prices include tax. Vending machines are available along the back wall of the cafeteria.
The Jefferson Healthcare Auxiliary operates a gift shop for the benefit of patients, visitors, and employees. The shop features an extensive and varied inventory of gift items, snacks, cards, stuffed animals, toys, and flowers. Profits from the gift shop are a major contributor to auxiliary fundraising for purchase of needed hospital equipment.
While we try to keep all patient information confidential, there may be times when you overhear a conversation between a patient and the doctor and/or other health care provider. We ask you to respect the confidentiality of others, as you would like them to do for your family.
If you are assisting a patient to walk or move, please discuss this with their nurse. Please ensure that the patient has appropriate clothing and footwear and watch for equipment that may be in the path of travel. Please stay in the patient area on the third floor, unless you have permission from the patient’s physician or nurse to do otherwise.
