Medical records are confidential documents kept for the mutual benefit of the patient, provider and other health care professionals. They are the property of Jefferson Healthcare Hospital but, under most circumstances, the patient has a right to the information.
As part of the admission process each patient routinely signs a Consent for Release of Information. This consent releases information only to health care providers and employees who have a "need to know" for purposes of the patient's medical care or to secure payment by designated responsible insurers.
