Located on the Olympic Peninsula, Jefferson County offers a lush rural environment with several distinct communities.  Port Townsend is a lovely Victorian-era seaport.  You can enjoy many easily accessible city parks for picnics, playtime, or quiet reflection.
 

Port Townsend’s dramatic marine environment is a unique location for recreational opportunities with the Olympic Mountains on one side and Port Townsend Bay on the other.  The Strait of Juan de Fuca is to the north and there is access to bodies of both salt and fresh water.  Port Townsend is also home to Fort Worden State Park, a cultural, arts and recreation center that includes a Marine Science Center and camping facilities.

 

Both the Cascade and Olympic Mountain ranges are visible from Port Townsend and other parts of the county.  Our area is also adjacent to one of the country’s most spectacular national parks, Olympic National Park and the Olympic National Forest.  Fort Flagler is nearby on Marrowstone Island (another state park with camping and boating facilities) and Mystery Bay State Park with boat moorings available.  Marine access abounds throughout the area.  Hood Canal and the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary are also close by.  Cycling, hiking, beachcombing, sailing and the annual Rhody Run, are just a few of the abundant activities available.

 

Port Ludlow, Port Hadlock, Chimicum, Marrowstone Island, Quilcine, Brinnon, are diverse communities outside of Port Townsend.  You will find scenic farm and ranch lands, golf communities, marinas, marine trades and beautiful residential areas.  Jefferson County has something for everyone and has a range of housing choices.
